Bangor Makes Noise

Bangor Northern Ireland has produced some world class musicians, including Snow Patrol, Hannah Peel, Foy Vance and many others. It’s a place where you can hear high quality music all week, and perhaps even catch an act before they become famous – or after!

The town boasts several high quality music festivals, including The Open House, concerts every Sunday in the summer months in Ward Park, Bank Holiday Broadway and the bigger Ward Park concerts which have featured major international artists such as Eminem, Snow Patrol and even a surprise visit from Bono. Classical music fans are well served by the Clandeboye Festival in the beautiful Clandeboye Estate.

Every kind of musical genre can be heard in Bangor. We have a Rock and Blues Club, Bank Holiday Broadway for fans of showtunes, many choirs from classical to rock, traditional Irish folk sessions in the Courthouse plus a host of original singer-songwriters including King Cedar who runs a successful and well established Saturday night original music showcase in Fealty’s, High Street. Past artists have included Duke Special and Amanda Agnew.

Bangor is making a noise. Do you hear?

Music is a huge part of both the cultural and economic life of Bangor. There is even more we can do to make our musical talent a reason for people to visit Bangor. I am currently undertaking a major research project into how we can support our talent, venues and music fans to connect and build the best music scene. I would love to hear your experiences as part of this project, whether you are an avid gig goer or never go out in Bangor at all.
