“I think that anyone that’s serious about taking music seriously should consider doing Eve williams music course. She is very friendly and knowledgeable and there are many things that most people do not know about how to take your music to the next level, be that level getting played on the radio or getting better exposure or just simply writing better songs… Eve Williams is a one stop shop for any musician wanting to take their music seriously or any musician that simply wants to be better at their craft. I have noticed a great improvement in my own craft since taking the course and I look forward to taking my music to the next level.” Patrick McFerran

Do you want to begin writing songs or improve your chances of achieving commercial success with your songwriting? This structured 10 week course will help you achieve your songwriting aims.

Students meet together in ten weekly 2 hour  sessions. In a supportive and friendly environment, students play and comment on eachother’s work as well as completing tasks aimed at refining skills in areas such as lyric writing, chord progressions, writing stronger hooks and catchier melodies and marketing your music to your target audience and to the industry. Industry guest speakers will attend and at the end of the course each student records a high quality demo of their work with an in house producer.

The structure of the course is as follows:

Week 1 – ‘Talent Borrows, Genius Steals’

Who are your influences and what are your musical goals? Finding your own individual voice as a writer/ artist-writer.

Week 2 – Developing Lyric Ideas

How to develop lyric ideas, deal with writer’s block and avoid cheese. Writing lyrics that hit home with your target audience.

Week 3 – Which comes first, the music or the lyrics?

Different methods of writing: lyrics or title first, writing to chord progressions, writing to a brief.

Week 4 – Writing a Memorable Melody

Week 5 – Collaborative Writing

Most top selling songs are written by a team of writers. This week we have fun and work together.

Week 6 – The producer/writer

Week 7 – Marketing Your Music

Week 8 – Demo and Q&A session with professional songwriters, producers and A&R professionals.

Week 9- Songwriters’ Circle

Students will play their own work and comment on eachother’s songs. This will help each student choose which pieces to record for their demo.
